The ‘Strike Zone’ can
accommodate from 1 to 4 fishermen. Rates are based on the number of
anglers on the trip. Cash, travelers checks or personal check is the
preferred method of payment. To keep rates low, I do not accept
credit cards
INSHORE fishing (bay or flats) is done in
the shallow waters of Clearwater Bay and St. Joseph Sound. Light
tackle and live bait is the preferred approach to angling in these
waters.
Inshore fishing is always in protected areas
where the water is typically very calm and seasickness is never a
problem. Flats fishing is done mostly in spring, summer and fall.
Winter fishing involves more structure and pot hole type fishing.
Travel time is minimal - sometimes fishing
within minutes of leaving the marina.
Shrimp is the bait of choice in the winter. In the summer months,
Capt. Gary throws the cast net to capture the bait (small fish) for
the day.
COASTAL fishing is done from the shallows of
the beach out to several miles into the Gulf of Mexico. The coastal
range is from Tarpon Springs, Dunedin, Clearwater Beach, Belleair
Beach, Indian Rocks Beach, Indian Shores, Redington Beach and
Maderia Beach.
Fish from both the inshore and offshore
water frequent this zone. Fishing is centered around sand bars,
potholes and rock structures.
Since the marina is close to Clearwater
Pass, the time is minimal in reaching the coastal areas.
OFFSHORE fishing extends west from the
coastal area into the Gulf of Mexico. Natural and artificial reefs
in this zone provide most of the angling opportunities.
